Way too old to be playing games, but foldit is fun. Although I have a minimal biochemistry background, I am not interested in proteins, protein design, or protein folding.

I have a lecture, Against Evidence-Based Medicine, which argues that medicine, particularly "personalized medicine", is intractable in the complexity theory sense. Protein folding is also intractable in the complexity theory sense. I use foldit as one of my examples of practical non-deterministic finite state like algorithms for solving intractable problems in a limited domain. Foldit is much more interesting than most crowd sourcing algorithms in many ways. One is in using unique human abilities. Spacial reasoning is one.
