Server Downtime - The Move to Amazon!

Hey everyone, we have some exciting news - we are moving our servers to Amazon!

We took steps earlier this year to try and minimize the downtime from this move, but it looks like we are going to need more.

We've scheduled the move for next Wednesday, November 16th at 3 PM PST (11 PM GMT). All puzzles will end at this time, and we'll be down for 24-48 hours, depending on any issues.

New Release!

Hey everyone,

We're releasing a new client today with an exciting new feature - the Blueprint Tool!

You can read about this tool in the following blog post:

This tool should make it easier than ever to create scientifically realistic designs. We're very excited to see how this compares to traditional design puzzles, which we will continue to run.

We understand from tester feedback that there are some usability issues with the tool currently, and we're working hard to resolve these soon. Keep an eye out for a devprev release!

Developer Preview Release Soon

Hey everyone!

We'll be pushing out another update to the developer preview soon with an exciting new feature - the Blueprint Tool!

This tool allows you drag-and-drop different building blocks (such as secondary structure and ABEGO loops) onto your sequence, making it very easy to create new designs out of known ideal fragments.

Here is a demonstration of some of the features:

Develop Preview Release Soon

Hey everyone!

Computer Programmer Needed

The Bardwell laboratory and the Foldit development team are looking to hire a computer programmer to develop the Foldit game. Foldit is a computer game that challenges players to solve real biochemistry problems. The candidate would interface with current Foldit developers and experimental collaborators to improve the ability of Foldit to interface with biochemical data. The ideal candidate would have considerable programming experience in C++ and experience with large-scale code-bases. Past experience or knowledge of biochemistry, molecular biology, or X-ray crystallography is recommended.

Weekend Storm Advisory (updated)

Small weather advisory here: The PNW is expected to see an increase in heavy storming (including severe winds) on a level that a number of places are comparing it to huge storms that took place in 1962. Greatest impact days are projected to be:
Late Thursday night/Friday morning - 10/13: now not as bad as projected
Late Saturday morning/Saturday night - 10/13: still projected to be terrible

New Release!

Hey everyone!

We've just released a small update with a change to idealize SS. Your fellow players noticed that the helices produced by the tool weren't optimal, and we're putting in a change to fix that!
