Is it possible to add a function that would use zero length bands to cut and shift a selected section as if it was moved by hand? The idea would be to simply shift the selection into a position before wiggling or rebuilding thus keeping the current shape. This would be a great time saver and enable folders to position secondaries in a more efficient way. This would also assist with placing secondaries at the start of a denovo. There are several other benefits that would belabor the point.

There isn't a good way to implement this with Lua bands. I think what porky would like is a Lua (or GUI!) translate function, that takes a single band as input. The Lua function would tell the client to translate a contiguous group of segments (out to a cut or terminal segment) to the endpoint of the band.
