This is just a frustrating experience, there seems to be no way to close a cutpoint that is scoring higher with the cut open, and gain those points.
This has been feedbacked before (more than once, but the spam filter refuses to allow posting the internal links):

Please fix!
Thanks for the feedback Timo and Auntdeen. I was able to reproduce this and have forwarded the issue to the team.
Personally, depends. I've been able to be very successful on a bad section by adding cutpoints, wiggling, closing, and wiggling again (though with a little more to it than that).

I often have this bug with my recipe "Microremix" which uses cuts. Most of the time, when the script is finished even without success, I get the 1-2 points doing
restore credited best
or
-restore very best, then close the cut point, then if necessary restore credit best. It's strange.
But it is a bug I think, because when I look at the points during the recipe, it never gains anything .. but I get points doing restore credited. Moreover, some times, it evolves even without gaining any point.
About the same thing (finding a higher best using resture best) happens when mutating segments one by one to all possibilities. Sometimes restore recent best returns a higher walue than any of the done mutates.
Yes agreed. I have just done the same as well, got a high score with an open cut point, not in an evo. As this is in end game all you can do, if you are lucky enough to catch it early, is find the auto high score of the closed cut solution and start a new track. And yes I know there is a big red line through the score but they can be there temporarily for other reasons than cut points, so you tend to ignore them.
