Whenever I fold, I always see someone 400- 1500 points above me. I am wondering how you all do it. I have some great scripts, but what else am I missing? If anyone could give some tips, or recipes to try, I would be in your debt. If you have the same problem, I advise you to look here as well. Thanks!

So what now?

What do you think I should do? What do you do to get the best protein you can?

My advice

Learn the game for a while. Forget about scripts completely for now, they will only take you as far as your starting position allows. Learn to recognise good starting positions and what you need to do to make them better. Hand rebuilding is difficult but the more you practise the better you will become. It also teaches you how each puzzle 'feels', how it will react to scripts, and what areas and configurations score best and worst. If you don't like an area, change it and see what happens. If it scores better than before, remember that and try it again the next time you see that configuration. It may be that a script would have changed that area anyway, but it may not, and, if it doesn't, you would not recognise it had made a mistake. You need to learn that for yourself.

If you find yourself 100's of points behind the leaders, chances are you went in the wrong direction, restart and try again, or make some major changes and see if you can progress further. Be persistent, very, very, persistent.

Once you are happy with the starting position then you can let the scripts run and see where they take you, or, like I do, push them as far as you can manually. It is a great way to learn.

... and remember, being at the top of the scoreboard doesn't necessarily mean you have the best protein, it just means you have the best score.

I have discovered the fun in

I have discovered the fun in hand-folding! I now know to ballance my scripts and hand-folding. Does anyone have suggestions on ways to handfold? I am looking for some good stratigies. And also, my main point of the topic was to see if anyone wanted to share what works well for them, soI can get some ideas on what to do. I'm just really curious how people get so high. What am I not doing, or not doing? Thanks for the feedback!

In the "secondary advanced

In the "secondary advanced feature" dialog menu, there is the 'make my solution #1' button, but be careful to use it sparingly, otherwise everyone else will wonder how you do it, and will want to know about the button as well.

Shhhhh!

While you're at it...

There's also a secret feature called the "haxx mode" that allows you to automatically claim the #1 spot in one puzzle... but you need the Hundred Million Mover achievement to unlock it.

(As you can probably tell, this is a joke. Although if this were real, that might provide extra motivation for people to fold... ;-)

:)

I actually think that would be cool. But you can't take number 1 with a protein scoring 2. :) Anyway, Just looking for what you guys find works best. I read the wiki, and got some great stuff, but I wonder what works for you, some things to evolve on. Besides the #1 solution itself, of course. :)
