To try and keep things in one place, I'm creating this thread for people to post their results using different versions of the client (if you have them) or different accuracies.
In particular, it's most interesting to know how the new default values stack up against the old pre-slider foldit.
Shake accuracy 2 should correspond to the value that foldit was using before the sliders were added. The main release before the currently released one (prior to Feb 9th) that *does* have sliders is completely screwed up, and the results from that one aren't particularly useful.
The new sliders are best for covering up my loosing puzzle, but other then that??? It would be nice if i could set my own default positions for the new sliders, so I would not need to reset them evey time i start a new client. thanks :)
The current official response is to write a recipe to set your defaults via Lua and run that every new client.
Please open a separate feedback for saving behavior settings (if a feedback on that topic is not already open).
Having a vague sense that the number of rotamers has increased, I did a quick test using Puzzle 478 in its starting configuration and wrote a short script to print out the number of rotamers. First I tested it with an older version of FoldIt (last 4 digits of version number c7df) at ShAcc 0 that lives on a computer longer used for FoldIt, then on the current version with ShAcc 2.
The results slightly surprised me. For all but 2 residues the number of rotamers was identical in each case. However for Valine 9 there were 2 extra rotamers in the current version, and for Glutamate 61 there were no fewer than 156 extra rotamers.
See attached file for summary (sorry about the formatting)
Test of 2 clients:
using Acid Tweaker v1.3
Start score: 10172.047419
Last pass: Brute force sidechain manipulator
seg 1 to 15 only
SA = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4
BETA Client = 5777f8f8427fd842d940bd2c2409414d (older)
BETA Client = 08052a461bd9067a3868008e0e488890 (recent)
Don't know if that will help, but # of positions (and scores to a lesser degree) are somewhat all over the place.
in responce to kenjung"s responce to "The current official response is to write a recipe to set your defaults via Lua" is fine if you are a script writer. However there are a lot of us players who dont write lua and dont understand the new lua eather. So if someone could write a script to set the sliders and post it to the publice script page it would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
I've written one: http://fold.it/portal/recipe/38552
It stores your custom defaults per puzzle into note # 2. The first time you run it you set the defaults. After that, it sets the sliders. If you want to do new defaults, clear the note.
Thanks for the nice script Brow42 This should help!

Closing, as those sliders do not exist anymore.
"Shake accuracy 2 should correspond to the value that foldit was using before the sliders were added"
I think this statement alone will resolve a lot of the issues. I did everything at SA 0 because I thought that was the same as the pre-slider version. If others were using SA 0, which had far fewer rotamers (often only 1), then, yeah, that was why shake didn't work.
