I am going through the introductory puzzles, and it all works pretty well, until i get to the one introducing "Tweak".
when starting tweak(-mode), the game seems to be frozen, as it is so sluggish. it looks like it outputs about 1 frame every 5 seconds at max, and it responds to mouse input even slower.
My system is weak, in both CPU and GFX, but as all the other stuff runs pretty well, this still seems kind of like an optimization bug or something.
Intel Atom Single Core 1.8GHz
3 GB RAM
Integrated Intel GFX 945
Ubuntu 11.10
i don't need to be able to handle very complex proteins, just the introduction.

the tweak tool is one of those things you dont just click on and it all magically happens.
You have to hold the mouse button down to make it turn...and if it wont turn the direction you want thats because it cant turn that way, so you turn it the other way.
Its working fine for me, I just used it on a helix and on a sheet with no issues at all.
It slows FPS down, abnormally so. Not just with large proteins, but just about all protein puzzles.
If you don't notice a problem with this tool, I would be very interested to see what your computer specs are.
i3 3GB ram win7, no separate graphics card or anything fancy
OK, perhaps not quite as interesting as I thought it would be...
So, you just have an on-board graphics chip? Nothing from nVidia or ATI?
And, you understand that the problem is with a slow down in Frames Per Second (creating jitter)? The tool works fine, otherwise.
tristanlbailey,
"no separate graphics card or anything fancy".
"And, you understand that the problem is with a slow down in Frames Per Second (creating jitter)? The tool works fine, otherwise"
I have been able to read since I was 4 years old.
That's fine; it's just that you replied to Hoijui as if he was 4 years old:

I'm sure Hoijui didn't think it was all supposed to "magically happen".
Tristanlbailey is certainly correct about the tone of the post, however, it does not get us to the problem solution. I have a very nice linux box (you don't need the specs, it kicks ass) that runs Foldit like a dream, until I use the tweak tool. I NEED the tweak tool to be improved. I don't know much about coding, however, I am willing to help anyway I can.
Yep, definitely something funky going on with that tool. :P
