It just brings annoying people like me to the forums, coming up with stupid ideas that get down-voted all the time. And nobody likes that.

You down-votes are so sweet. It's like you're calling me smart and not-annoying, all at the same time. Maybe I was wrong about you. Thanks guys!

You can't get Consultant with CopyEdits, can you? Doesn't say so at least. But that would be so cool! That might be an alternative suggestion to complete abolition. ;)

Why on earth would people down-vote Ayelis on this point? It is completely valid! You will have morons like him cluttering everything up just to get an achievement. This particular component of the game is ridiculous and should be eliminated.

"Consultant" Achievements are probably the most prestigious awards in the entire community. They are the result of having been folding long enough to thoroughly understand the game, the constraints on the game due to the developer's time limitations, the constraints on the game due to the lab's finances, and how this community functions on a daily basis.

The awards are given when a player suggests something that reflects those constraints, but is an idea relatively easy to implement within those - and is of real value to the community or the game. The suggestion also needs to be backed up with solid information and explanation - and be a new idea.

I recently received my first "Consultant" Achievement after two and a half years of folding, participating in the community, and actively reporting true bugs and adding suggestions. I was thrilled, and felt a true sense of accomplishment.

So when a newcomer arrives and notices something off right-off-the-bat, everyone else in the community feels threatened because it took them so long to get the achievement... So that's where all my down-votes are coming from. I get it now. Thanks Auntdeen! :)

Maybe (Oh no there I go again) "Feedback - Suggestion" and "Feedback - Feature" should be cut off from people who haven't been in the community for "long enough to thoroughly understand the game, the constraints on the game due to the developer's time limitations, the constraints on the game due to the lab's finances, and how this community functions on a daily basis."

Of course, how long that takes... Being a developer with low finances myself...
I mean two and a half years! Nobody should be able to post suggestions for two and a half years after registering!

Ayelis - every newcomer notices something right off the bat. Every. Single. One.

Most newcomers wait until they know if there's a backstory, and gather information specific to foldit before making a suggestion.

Very few newcomers persist in their own inflated ego driven attempt to force their "right-off-the-bat" suggestions down everyone's throat, and even fewer get defensive about it.

I tried very hard to be as informative as possible in my response to this feedback, without being offensive, and without making it personal. It would have been great if you had treated the conversation as such.

I am one of the few who have tried to give you a real answer to your incessant posts. I won't bother again.

I would like to point out that there is a certain objectivity that is garnered when someone learns to do something for the first time which, perhaps, is not shared by those who have been doing things the same way for months or years. I accept that for things that are more familiar to me. In the past, I have been offended when people tried to tear down the projects or theories that I had worked on for years, but to which they had a fresh perspective. But now I accept it. It's how some people operate.

I would also like to state, for the record, that I was not trying to offend you. I am sorry that I did. I have posted a lot of feedback recently. I'm not trying to force it all down people's throats. Maybe the down-vote thing, but not all the other things. And I'm sorry about that too.

In fact, I'm sorry I posted most of the feedback. I seem to have pissed everyone off. Maybe I should have asked incessantly in chat about each thing until someone said "write it up on the feedback forum", as I did with two of them (which caused me to figure that going straight to feedback with them was a good idea). Maybe when I got my first down-vote or my second captcha, I should have abandoned this feedback idea altogether. Well don't worry. I won't bother again.

Ayelis, the Consultant Achievements require that we in the Foldit team actually implement your suggestions.

"coming up with stupid ideas" as you put it, won't get you any closer to that achievement than you already are and seem to only hurt your feelings when players down-vote you.

I would like to point out that if you look at the number of players on these days (http://fold.it/portal/node/990652) the few down-votes that you have shouldn't be bothering you so much. It is a pity that a very small fraction (~0.2% of players) are able to rile you up.

This is only my advice, take it or leave it, but you should just focus on enjoying the game and making suggestions that you feel strongly about:

I personally think your "taking a screenshot of the same protein fold state at the same angle doesn't seem to serve a purpose, to me at this time" suggestion is a very valid one, but I don't seen why that feedback had to degenerate into complaining about how many down-votes it got.

Post your suggestions, we'll get to them when we can, please don't change the priorities that we set on these feedbacks (I hope you will agree that issues such as Foldit sucking all your bandwidth is more urgent than the best suggestion: http://fold.it/portal/node/989623) and try to enjoy yourself. Don't even bother looking at the votes (again, if you look at the number of players online and the number of votes for any feedback it is statistically insignificant!)

As for this feedback, I hope you will understand that we will not be getting rid of these achievements.
