Dear Developers,

after translating the whole language message file into Czech (attached),
I noticed that some game text and messages are not displayed as translated
even though their counterparts are translated without formatting error.

Some of these are:
- All mode names at the top left: Pull Mode, Wiggle...
- Messages after modifications: Excellent|Great clash clearance..., Excellent|Great hydrogen bonding
- The modification menus (after right clicking) such as Rebuild
- Several hints and tool messages during the playing of the intro puzzles:
- "Just like SHAKE tries to take care of sidechains, WIGGLE tries to let Foldit improve the backbone. WIGGLE gets stuck if it cannot increase the score. Click this button again to stop the tool."
- "Sheets like to be alongside each other. Remember, hydrogen bonds are great for your score."
- "You might have guessed by now, but color is used to show how well part of the protein is folded."

If it would be possible to correct these errors it would be great since we are
planning to use your great tool for a Bioinformatics tutorial at a summer school for high-school students in the next few weeks.

Yours sincerely Sven Dra┼żan

Some texts remain in english

Tutorials
When you think SHAKE has done a good enough job, you can press it again to Stop.
"Just like SHAKE tries to take care of sidechains, WIGGLE tries to let Foldit improve the backbone. WIGGLE gets stuck if it cannot increase the score. Click this button again to stop the tool
"When you're close, you can remove the bands and Wiggle again." (??)
Sheets like to be alongside each other. Remember, hydrogen bonds are great for your score
"You might have guessed by now, but color is used to show how well part of the protein is folded. Green is good, red is not so good."
"oops the protein is falling apart. \n Want to reset?
"Orange pointing in, blue pointing out."
"Changing the structure of the protein can help you see a solution better, and also affects Rebuild and Tweak."
"To enter Structure mode, click the Modes tab and choose Structure, or press 2."
"Once you've done that, try using tweak to flip the sheet down"
"In this puzzle, the natural folded state of the protein, called a NATIVE, is known. Use the tools available to match the protein with the guide."
Use the tools available to match the protein with the guide.
If you haven't discovered it yet, you can attach a rubber band from the protein to a point in empty space.
Rubber bands also affect the pull tool, not just wiggle
"In an Electron Density puzzle, we only have data on the rough shape of the protein."
Adjust the THRESHOLD to change the thickness of the density region
Use Shake, Wiggle, and careful moving to fold the protein into the best possible shape that fits inside the predicted region
In exploration puzzles like this one, your goal is to find a solution that is different from the starting structure."
"The red areas are contacts present in the starting structure. White areas are new contacts, which increase your score multiplier."
"To avoid this, lower the CLASHING IMPORTANCE. This lets Wiggle keep making small adjustments even if the protein is packed too tight."
"A lower Clashing Importance also lets you make moves that add clashes without unravelling the protein, like pulling on a tangled strand."
"These levels will introduce the powerful ALIGNMENT tool! It will let you use the structures of real proteins, called TEMPLATES, by THREADING."
"When you THREAD, your protein will try to fit onto the 3D TEMPLATE where the cylinders are."
"Now that you've threaded it, try a shake and wiggle!"
"You can reset, undo, or redo with these buttons."
"Try to line up the colors. It's okay if there are spaces, but fewer spaces is better. Click here to thread when they match well!"
"If shake and wiggle doesn't work, try a different alignment!"
"To enter Design Mode, click the Modes tab and choose Design, or press 4."
"Now some sidechains are too small, causing voids!"
"You've earned a new tool! Mutate Sidechains is like Shake, but may mutate designable sidechains."
This red line is a CONSTRAINT, indicating that the segments it connects should be closer together
"Left click on the ligand to bring up MOVE tool. RIGHT-button-drag to move left, right, up, and down, LEFT-button-drag to rotate and SHIFT-LEFT(or MIDDLE)-button-drag to move ligand Into/Out of screen
"When the ligand is in a good place, try a wiggle!
After moving the ligand closer, use WIGGLE SIDECHAINS to wiggle the sidechains and the ligand at the same time. Try and compare it to Shake Sidechains

the new tutorial have been added but :
"To close the CUT, left click on one segment to bring up the MOVE tool, and then move the pieces together until the CUT turns yellow. Then click the CUT.
dont work, not exactly the same message in foldit.

and
You can still drag SIDECHAINS with the mouse
Remember to avoid clashes! Pull the helices apart a bit, or SHAKE can help.
Just like SHAKE tries to take care of sidechains, WIGGLE tries to improve the backbone. WIGGLE gets stuck if it cannot increase the score. Click this button again to stop the tool."

and always many other already listed above :
When you think SHAKE has done a good enough job, you can press it again to Stop.
"Just like SHAKE tries to take care of sidechains, WIGGLE tries to let Foldit improve the backbone. WIGGLE gets stuck if it cannot increase the score. Click this button again to stop the tool

Thanks for the reminder.

I'll update the translation file with the current changes which should be pushed out in the next devprev release.

As a note, there are going to be more tutorial changes soon in case you wanted to do all the tutorial translations at once. I'll try to remember to update the translation file once we push those out. If I forget please remind us (=

The strings are now in the translation files, so they can be translated. It's still up to the community to do the new translations. After they are done, we can integrate them into the new clients.

updated .pot file please

With respect to the posts above see also http://fold.it/portal/node/995162

These are unresolved problems (that is, there are still multiple strings for which the available translations are not displayed).

As an example, I attach an composite image which shows in the top-left an msgid from the current .pot file (the translation template); below this are three screen shots from the third tutorial in level 1 (Level 1-3) displayed in three different translations (Hebrew, Indonesian and Polish). In these three screen-shots I have inserted the relevant section from the .po file (the translated template) showing the same msgid as in the current .pot file and the available msgstr (the translation). In each case, a translation is provided (and there appear to be no format errors with the msgstr entries) but it is not displayed.

Analysis of other strings, for which translations fail to display, suggests that at least some of these problems arise because the msgid's are not up-to-date. An example (from Level 1-1): the msgid "CLASH is bad in protein!" (as in the current .pot file) should be "CLASHES are bad in proteins!" (as in the game). Changing the msgid "CLASH is bad in protein!" in a .po file to "CLASHES are bad in proteins!" allows the translation (msgstr) to be displayed correctly. In the example from Level 1-3 above, the msgid text appears to be correct but perhaps the line break and/or number and location of spaces are not. An up-to-date .pot file would help resolve that question for this and the many other instances of undisplayed translations.

The current POT-Creation-Date is: 2013-04-29 14:51-0700. Please can we have an up-to-date .pot file created and made public. This would allow translators to check and update their files and would seem a relatively simple first step towards solving this ongoing problem.

Thanks

It would be great if this can be done, on a regular basis, who knows where in the world great folders are? :D

Is it possible update POT-file? It is from 2013 year still. Half of messages can not translated. It is below than failure translation at all.
