Foldit has several ways of showing you what is right or wrong with a protein.
There is the
- "clash" - a red spiky ball between two atoms that are too close
- "void" - a transparent sphere in an empty space in the protein structure
- "bond" - a blue striped line between well-connected atoms
and finally the
- "exposed hydrophobic marking" - a red arrow on hydrophobic sidechains that are sticking out
I'm thinking that we need a better name for "exposed hydrophobic marking" than "exposed hydrophobic marking". ;) Something short, one syllable, easy to remember and understand. Something like "clash" or "void" except for "exposed hydrophobic markings".
What should we call this?
If you have a suggestion, post a reply here with your suggested name, and if you'd like, an explanation for why you think it would be a good name to use.

The purpose of this thread is not to pick a single winner, but to get a bunch of ideas going and see the general opinion.
Let's see what we can come up with. :D
