Howdy, y'all.

Back in 2013, player Auntdeen produced a series of videos showcasing the folding techniques that top-ranked players used to obtain their winning results.

Since then, Foldit has introduced several new types of puzzles, including multi-mer design, small molecule design, and binder design, to name a few. Some of you have clearly become experts at these.

Is there an interest in creating a new set of Black Belt videos to cover the new puzzle types? I would be willing to take the lead producing the videos. Now that we have Zoom and Teams and other online meeting platforms, it should be much easier to create these videos than it was nine years ago.

Your input, fellow folderers?

Great idea. Thanks BootsMcGraw for the offer. BTW, it would be usefull to reactivate the categories puzzle ranking, as promized by the Foldit Group:

I think this is a great idea! I'd love to see demos of binder design, denovo design with symmetry, denovo design with alphafold, ED with trim tool, HBNets, etc!

I'm going to take the comments and the upvotes as a "yes".

Over the next several weeks, I will be contacting various players and assessing their interest as participants. If you or someone you know would like to participate, feel free to send me a PM, and we'll talk about it.

If you have ideas about topics to cover, I'd love to hear them. Binder design, small molecule design, symmetry design, and electron density are definitely on my list. Susume has suggested AlphaFold, the trim tool, and hydrogen bond networks, all of which are great ideas to consider.

I'd like to see something along these lines and would be interested in doing something with denovo design. But it's a lot of work; I've no experience with making videos; and I'm not sure that videos are the best medium for doing this sort of thing anyway. I think the written word (or typed word in this day and age) is a better way of communicating: people can read faster than they can listen.

There's a lot of great information on the web site but unfortunately it's widely disseminated across the wiki, feedback, the forums, puzzle comments, the blog, the chat transcripts etc. It really needs to be tidied up a bit.
