Why do we get bounced out of client for announcements

Once again, I had a great run going. An announcement about an imminent developer preview release bounced me from the GUI.
This is stupid! The only legit reason to be bounced out of the GUI is for an actual code update. The rest should be posted in "Notifications".

This is my second complaint on the issue.

Can you give me a good reason I should lose competitive advantages for your silly announcements?

Hi Fishercat--thank you for this comment and I hear your frustration. I will pass this along to the team to address.

This sounds like a bug. Foldit messages and news items should not crash Foldit or interrupt your session.

Can you give some more details about when this crash occurred? Were you actively playing a puzzle when Foldit crashed? What was the non-critical message that threw you out of the game?
