The system of calculating scores for players and categories doesn't give room to favour puzzles against others. Yet, some puzzles are more demanding and we are still limited to a 100 pts maximum score.

There is a risk that some players avoid to invest in demanding puzzles (like ED).

In the past, there were some puzzles wiyh 150 pts value, but this has been discarded, probably because it didn't fit with the overall score system (taking the best x score out of y puzzle scores).

A way to favour some puzzles could be to count their score twice.

Example of player's scores:

-Puzzle 1: 100 pts
-Puzzle 2: 100 pts
-Puzzle 3: 100 pts
-Puzzle 4: 80 pts
-Puzzle 5: 90 pts
-Puzzle 6: 100 pts
-Puzzle 7: 100 pts
-Puzzle 8: 100 pts
-Puzzle 9a (favoured): 100 pts
-Puzzle 9b (favoured): 100 pts
-Puzzle 10 10 pts

Global score (best 8), current:790 pts
Global score (best 8), proposed:800 pts

Maybe I miss something - I C yr point Bruno But the answer is very simple. Just give those puzzles with higher investment time more points.

I'm an exponent of ED puzzles - I wish we had more. Giving them more points would suit me since I'm mainly dependent on hand folding.

Just my thoughts.

As I understand it, if a puzzle is given higher max points, it gives the following:

Example of player's scores:

-Puzzle 1: 100 pts
-Puzzle 2: 100 pts
-Puzzle 3: 100 pts
-Puzzle 4: 80 pts
-Puzzle 5: 90 pts
-Puzzle 6: 100 pts
-Puzzle 7: 100 pts
-Puzzle 8: 100 pts
-Puzzle 9 (favoured): 200 pts
-Puzzle 10 10 pts

Total (8 best) = 800 pts (it looks like equivalent to my proposal but it isnt't)

The problem comes when poor results are achieved on the favoured puzzle. Exemple:

-Puzzle 1: 100 pts
-Puzzle 2: 100 pts
-Puzzle 3: 100 pts
-Puzzle 4: 80 pts
-Puzzle 5: 90 pts
-Puzzle 6: 100 pts
-Puzzle 7: 100 pts
-Puzzle 8: 100 pts
-Puzzle 9 (favoured): 100 pts / 200
-Puzzle 10 10 pts

Total 8 best: 790 pts

My proposal:
-Puzzle 1: 100 pts
-Puzzle 2: 100 pts
-Puzzle 3: 100 pts
-Puzzle 4: 80 pts
-Puzzle 5: 90 pts
-Puzzle 6: 100 pts
-Puzzle 7: 100 pts
-Puzzle 8: 100 pts
-Puzzle 9a (favoured): 50 pts / 100
-Puzzle 9b (favoured): 50 pts / 100
-Puzzle 10 10 pts

Total 8 best= 770 pts
