Hey, all. We're having some issues with a massive spam dump hitting the forum, so I've temporarily locked down posting new threads. If you have something you're wanting to post in the forum, post it in the comments of this thread for now. Sorry for the inconvenience!!! We'll get this sorted out soon.

Hi Beerislooov,

Unfortunately, I don't know of any Foldit players who speak Polish.

Perhaps someone from the group FoldIt@Poland can help. I see that oureion has played Foldit recently.

Google translate:

Cześć Beerislooov,

Niestety nie znam żadnych graczy Foldit, którzy mówią po polsku.

Być może może pomóc ktoś z grupy FoldIt @ Poland . Widzę, że oureion ostatnio grał w Foldit.

Is it an option to propose

Is it an option to propose puzzles just for the sake of fun? Helical bundles, especially the one seen in PDB:4jle, may be interesting (and challenging) to fold by hand as there isn't quite an option to twist things into superhelices yet. Oh and 4jle is a non-native helix-swapped dimer.

Solved symmetric proteins

This raises a related idea - since foldit players are now being challenged to design symmetric interactions, it would be great to see some puzzles of solved symmetric dimers or trimers (small ones of course), slightly perturbed from their native positions, so we could play with the symmetric interactions and see what makes them work.

Of course, we love to see puzzles proposed by players! We can't guarantee that they will show up as actual puzzles, but it's always helpful to see what Foldit players are interested in!

I agree it could be useful to look at some natural symmetric proteins in Foldit, as structure prediction puzzles. We've done a few symmetric prediction puzzles for Foldit-designed proteins (like this one), to see how well Foldit players can predict the designs of other players.

We usually assume that Foldit players are less interested in working on already-solved proteins. But, if Foldit players think it would be informative, we could try some puzzles with natural symmetric proteins.
