Attachment video examples: The foldit client window must be large enough for this to happen and the phantom control area moves basically from right to left as the client window is widened. It stays roughly mid-height.

Just to be clear, you can right-click those links and select "Save Link As..." or the equivalent.

Remove the "_.txt" at the end, so the filename ends in ".asf".

I was able to view these files in Windows Media Player.

The "phantom control area" means you can scroll the recipe output window up and down or right and left while the mouse is outside of the window.

I've seen this happen before, but I'm not able to reproduce right now on devprev.

Thanks LociOiling for the added info.

My feeling it is a race condition that can happen sometimes. I have 4 clients (on 2 different puzzles) using the same client folder that exhibit this behavior at the moment. Two other clients using another folder are not affected.

Just realized these last two clients were NOT using the latest devprev. Closed clients and re-opening with latest devprev...

CONFIRMED, those 2 clients running now the latest devprev (20180411-0d2a98333f-win_x86-devprev) are also affected by this bug.

LociOiling: Is it possible you tested on a 'previous' devprev client? Could you recheck? Thanks

Also the effect is noticeable only after the Recipe Output window is full but you can notice that the solution does not rotate/move when you are in the right place to affect the Recipe Output window.

OK, I can recreate now.

When I click and drag along the upper left side of the recipe output window, the scrolling effect seems to kick in. The window has a dark border with a bright inside edge. Clicking and dragging on the bright edge about 4 to 5 lines down starts the scrolling effect reliably for me.

While the scrolling is in effect, dragging scrolls the recipe output window, even if the mouse pointer is outside the window. Clicking on the background outside the recipe output window usually clears it up, but not always.

I can't get this to happen in main. It takes a little practice, but once you find the right spot, it's pretty easy to recreate at will in devprev.

So to be clear, the issue is the output window is scrolling when it shouldn't be?

you can scroll it if you click in the some area outside the window and move the mouse as seen in the clips.

To jflat06, yes, the problem is that the recipe output window scrolls even though the mouse pointer is outside the window.

The recreate procedure I posted is just one way to get into this scrolling mode. It worked on several clients at the time I posted, but I'm not getting the same results today. A buggy bug.

In general, it seems like clicking the bright edge near the corners of the recipe output window is a good way to enter scrolling mode. This is working well on at least one client at the moment, although not along the left edge.

I haven't been able to reproduce Bertro's method of clicking and dragging totally outside the recipe output window, but I think I've seen it.

It's usually easy to clear scrolling mode, but not always. One client got super stuck, and I ended up being able to move the recipe output with *right* click and drag outside the output window, but this was when the client seemed locked in scrolling mode, and no amount of clicking would clear it.

When scrolling mode happens, other functions, such as being able to move the recipe output window or use the elevator bars in the recipe output or other windows, may not work.

The would be nice to be able to adjust the recipe output by clicking and dragging *inside* the window. It almost seems like someone tried to enable this feature, but got a parameter wrong.

The super-stuck client didn't un-stick itself, no matter what I did.

If anyone's game for some Windows debugging, I have a full dump and minidump available.

The problem is not just that the recipe output window acts weird, but that it steals mouse events that are meant for other controls. In the following screenshot, dragging the mouse on the dialog in the middle of the screen scrolls the recipe output window, and it is impossible to click the Continue button on the dialog to make the script move on to the next dialog. The button does not light up on mouse over and does not respond to click. Using the Cancel button on the left-hand dialog tries to cancel the script, but it is unable because there is a user dialog open.

Closing the recipe output window made it possible to click the Continue button on the user dialog (i.e. it allowed the mouse event to go where it was supposed to).

There are also times when the recipe output window is open and I am unable to select or deselect some residues, unable to click or right click some bands, unable to Tab on some residues. When mousing over those portions of the protein the pointer does not change to the pointy finger. I think the mouse over event is being eaten by the output window.
Closing the output window restores the pointy finger mouse and the various mouse functions.

I concur to the above. On Mac devore has been doing the same thing to me - unable to click on certain residues, scrolling inside the recipe window even when mouse is in "dead space" (like rotating the protein by clicking in background, holding and dragging)

Try the latest devprev, 20180426-5042fb62a9-win_x86-devprev or the equivalent.

So far, I haven't seen the same problem with the recipe output window, which was fairly easy to recreate without even trying in the previous version.

Still testing, still haven't seen the problem again.
