I can't even get past the login page; every time I try it crashes. Help would be appreciated!

We are looking into this right now, actually. Thank you for the report and we hope to have an update soon.

Make sure you are running the game in the foldit folder, not the downloads folder.

The Mac version of Foldit needs be put in the Applications folder. On some older macs it will work where it downloads, *HOWEVER* if a Mac user is working in OS Sierra, the game must bedragged to the *Applications* folder in order for it to work properly.
New users having this problem need to know this before they download and install foldit.
A brief note below the Mac client "Drag to Applications Folder" or on this page http://fold.it/portal/node/988864 would be helpful to players. For many Mac applications, the download folder itself is a window that allows the user to drag the game into their applications folder. This would be a vast improvement over having to guess what to do to get the game to work.

I posted updates to the Forum on how to install Sierra (which seems to be the OS mac users can't run foldit in without putting the application where it belongs. It's a best practice on Mac regardless of the OS AFAIK, but absolutely necessary if you run on Sierra.

Foldit is showing the spinning beach ball of death on my iMac (OSX 10.14.3, 4Ghz I7, 32GB) connected directly to 1 Gig internet), and yes, Foldit is indeed in Applications. Sorry, it is hung, so I can't attach a log file.
