Residue IE Score: Monitors that all PHE, TYR, and TRP residues are scoring well.
Core Existence: Ensures that at least 30% of the residues are buried in the core of your design.
Secondary Structure: Checks that at least 50% of residues are in sheets; penalties are incurred if fewer than 50% of residues form sheets.
Secondary Structure Design: Penalizes all CYS residues. Penalizes GLY, ALA, and PRO residues in helices and sheets.
Residue Count: Penalizes extra residues inserted beyond the 80 residue limit. Players may insert up to 10 extra residues.
Ideal Loops: Penalizes loops that do not conform to preferred ABEGO patterns. Use Auto Structures to see which residues count as "loops."
but we can add one in Design mode without penalty
A bit slow on the uptake here, but yes, at the start, puzzle 1272 has only 79 residues. You can of course add one residue to make the 80 residues allowed in the puzzle title.

Some group-shared solutions were crashing for me, but not my teammates.
I was able to open the shares on a client which had not been previously used to play the puzzle. The shares crashed clients which had previously played the puzzle.
I found that moving (or deleting) all the puzzle files allowed the crashing clients to open the shares. The puzzles files are any files and folders with 2002689 in their names under the foldit directory. The magic number 2002869 is the "node" of this puzzle, seen in the URL for this page.
I searched in Windows Explorer with *2002869* as the key (including the asterisks), then cut the found files and pasted them to a new folder.
I see the following message in log.txt and debug.txt:
ERROR: Error in core::conformation::Conformation::residue(): The sequence position requested was greater than the number of residues in the pose.
ERROR:: Exit from: c:\cygwin\home\jflat06\foldit\rosetta-interactive-release\source\src\core/conformation/Conformation.hh line: 385
It seems as though something about the previous puzzle history (perhaps a deleted residue) was causing the crash.
