New Release!
Hey everyone,
We've just released a new update to the game client! As part of this update, we've disabled audio to help with the recent Windows crashing problems. We will re-enable it once we diagnose the issues with the audio system. This will include the following:
General:
* Added a view option for hiding symmetric chains.
* Disabled audio.
As always, a thank you to our testers in the developer preview!

Bug Fixes:
* Fixed a crash in Tutorial 5-1
No player or group score roster in Linux X64 after upgrade with puzzle 1265. If I log off then restart the game, it says there are 0 players on line. After game is reloaded all my data returns, but still no rosters.
Looks like everyone's clients (updated or not) stopped receiving scores from the server on Thursday evening about the time the hotfix came out.
* Disabled audio.
What audio is supposed to be disabled? I have sound effects and rank popups enabled, and I don't hear any difference in the sounds.
I just have the blank "Getting player list" scoreboards (that never get the list).
To be clear - you're still hearing audio after taking the update? The update was supposed to disable the audio initialization, so you should hear no sounds, regardless of your client's settings.
Alwen told me in chat she still heard sounds after the first update (she is in main) and is still hearing them after the 2nd update (the hotfix). I turned sound on (devprev after the hotfix) and can hear the foldit music. Might be worth another try at disabling the audio to see if it stops people's crashing.
Yes, all the sounds I normally hear are there,
freezing
starting and terminating a band
the little music motif for score increased/decreased
end-of-recipe ding
etc
I am in main, and the build is
20160728-c4d88693d5-win_x86
This should properly disable sound on all platforms. This will be going out to devprev and main.
Tried main with hotfix of Aug 9. Sound is in fact disabled. The crashes I was getting with unhandled exceptions in openAL functions are still happening. See log.txt files in the respective feedbacks. These are not Windows 10 related crashes.
Someone with Win 10 who was crashing every 5 minutes should try this hotfix with their sound device enabled.
With bertro's help disabled audio driver and was able to run foldit on my laptop without crashing every few minutes. Today I re-enabled the audio driver and tried this new release. Six minutes later it crashed. Crashed again and again just loading a puzzle without even running any actions or recipes.
