Was manually maneuvering fold in density. Moved Threshold slide to right after moving alpha to right and got very dense and large cloud then crashed the client.

Also tried setting options ED thresh at 1.0. Still crashed when manipulating GUI slide.

These errors are from OpenAL. The chronic crashes on Windows 10 are also apparently from OpenAL, although a different function. I had a random non-repeatable crash today and it was from yet another function in OpenAL. The OpenAL32.dll that installs with foldit is from 2008. Is there maybe a more up-to-date version that could be tried?
When I move the threshold slider a tiny bit at a time I don't crash, but just for kicks I opened a new client and dragged the slider quickly to the left. I got an hourglass for a while, then crashed. Same error as those above from OpenAL. I have sound disabled in foldit.

I also have foldit sound disabled (always).
Apparently the OpenAL functions get called even when game sounds are turned off. If foldit could be changed to not call the audio library at all when sounds are turned off, people could turn off sounds as a workaround and continue playing the game if the OpenAL code is crashing.
