For puzzles 1243 and 1244 I have no Rama map. To be more accurate, it is grayed out.
There, but inaccessible.
On Mac, using Main.

Was it deactivated for these puzzles? I see it in 1242 but not in 1243 or 1244.

Sorely needed for 1243!

Went to devprev, still no active Rama map. What's the deal? I don't see any notices that it's not working.

It appears that people with build ID starting with 20160502 do not have Rama maps on 1243 and 1244, but people with build ID starting with 20160603 do have the maps. The 20160603 build appears not to be available on the site any more.

Additional information: My build is 20160502.
Thinking that since a fellow player on Mac had active Rama maps in devprev, I closed my clients and edited options.txt to run devprev.
After editing the text and closing the folder, I went back in to be sure the line was set correctly and it was.
Opened client in 1243, and still did not get Rama maps. Opened 1244, no Rama Maps.
Reopened client in devprev and checked options.txt because I couldn't see the [DEVPREV] puzzle that I'd just loaded. (with expired puzzles checked.)
Digging a little further, I noticed that if I open a second client and check the options file that it had gone back to main.
Every client I opened after setting to devprev has gone back to "main".

You probably already know this: all clients must be closed when you edit options.txt - otherwise one of the open clients will overwrite it with old values when that client is closed.

When the update group goes back to main, do your other options go back to defaults as well (e.g. view options)? If so, the client is not recognizing your options.txt file for some reason and is creating a new one with default values.

Some reasons this can happen: 1) There is a missing quote, or colon, or misspelled word, OR 2) the program you are using to edit the file is not saving it as plain text (jmbrownlee just had this problem using the text editor on a Mac and had to use the vi program to edit the file instead).

There was a new devprev released Thursday night (build ID should start with 20160609) which does include the rama maps for 1243 and 1244.

That begins to make sense. I used text edit on the mac so I will try with something else. Thanks Susume for your help!

In textedit you can supposedly click format, Make Plain Text to switch it to plain text.

I succeeded! (using the unix vi command) ... your lead on that was a good one. Text Edit didn't work even when the file was plain text (tried that yesterday).Found out how to edit in vi at http://tinyurl.com/84fxknu

Using the terminal and command line to edit the options.txt file in vi worked and resolved my issue.
