The design puzzle with rama has become a lot slower then it was without.
If the computation of rama info is only done when the rama becomes or is active in the display this might speed up things.

Done that, see my comment on puzzle 1214.
Hmm... the Rama Map should not be very resource intensive—especially when it is not displayed. Just in case, we've posted a devprev clone of Puzzle 1214, with the Rama Map completely disabled. Try out the devprev puzzle and if you see differences in puzzle performance, please share any information about which actions seem slower. You should be able to share solutions easily between Puzzle 1214 and the devprev clone.
I suspect the performance difference you see is due to other changes that came with the recent big update.
