What I did and my problem:
I just now downloaded fold.it, extracted it to my desktop, installed xclip(because the readme mentioned it), and installed lib32nss-mdns (I read about this in the FAQ)

But foldit still won't run. I click on it but nothing happens.

My computer:
Memory: 3.8 GiB
64-bit
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40 Ghz x 2

Any ideas?

Hi there!
Just so you know, the program is just contained in the tar.gz file.

After you extract it, you just need to open the extracted Foldit folder and the program is contained in there. We don't have an installer for Linux, so an icon will not be added to your desktop.
Hope that helps. If it doesn't, can you post a screenshot of what you're seeing? Unfortunately we just don't have a lot of information to go beyond these initial suggestions otherwise.

Thanks!

I extracted the tar.gz file to my desktop. Then I click on the foldit icon(2nd row, 2nd colomn in attached picture) and then nothing happens.

Let me know if you want more screenshots or what I should take screenshots of.

Can you navigate to that directory on the command line and type

./Foldit

? This will show you whatever output is being generated, and that might help with debugging.

My screenshot apparently didn't attach. Here's a link: imgur.com/dp4jFo3

The executable will be in the Foldit directory, not your home directory.

I'm not sure how to do that. I'm not too computer savvy - or linux savvy.

It depends on the machine, on some Linux machines both the native Linux version and the Windows version under Wine work and install just fine, on others like my laptop some time at the beginning of April Foldit stopped working
