New Release!

Hey everyone,

We've just pushed an update with a new type of puzzle. Notes below!

General
* New puzzle type: Sketchbook Puzzles (name pending). These puzzles are intended to focus your folding on the early-game. Upon starting or resetting the puzzle, you'll get a budget of some number of moves. Your current fold is completed when you run out of moves. Then it's time to move on and try something else!

Updates from the Foldit Team

Here are some things the Foldit team has been working on lately:

  • jflat06 has just put out a release with a new puzzle type and is working on various bug fixes (electron density crash on Linux, symmetry crash on Windows, and working on stability of the Mac build).
  • bkoep has been busy testing Foldit players' designs in the lab (see image at bottom).
  • scooper is working with some students on developing an interface for playing Foldit on touchscreen devices. He is also working with a student to update tutorial levels.

New Release!

Hey everyone,

We've just posted a new release with the following fixes and changes.

Tools:
* The Blueprint, Rama Map, Idealize, and IdealizeSS tools will now “move” the smallest number of residues, keeping the majority of residues fixed

Bug fixes:
* Several bug fixes involving various drug design tools.
* A small experimental change that may help with symmetry related crashes.

A big thanks to our devprev testers for helping to catch some bugs before this release!

Foldit design crystal structure

We've carried out an x-ray diffraction experiment with one of our protein crystals, and were able to solve the first-ever crystal structure of a protein designed by Foldit players! The final crystal structure is a near-exact match to the designed conformation. More details about the crystal structure will be forthcoming. For now, players check out the blog for information about x-ray diffraction, and explore the electron density map in Puzzle 1384!
