Community Rules
We've updated the previously posted "community guidelines" to be "community rules". The purpose of the rules is to make the Foldit community to be a pleasant and safe place for all members. We've added clarification on what action can be taken to ensure this as well as a few clarifying rules. The updated rules can be found here.
(Sat, 08/11/2012 - 01:17 | 4 comments)Is it the official FOLD.IT staff or Self Elected Players ?
Do the rules take into account the Players ability and science or just community based laws that may prevent some intelligent people from providing amazing workmanship and talent but may be socially dis functional ?
Does the rules take into consideration those people part of the community whom suffer from Mental Illnesses ? What is being done to support those whom are more anti social and are not able to control themselves... can we have some guides also to how to make a complaint against a member of staff or self elected player whom dishes out their "own" justice due to their inability to recruit more players not just tell them to behave?!
Do community members also get to vote against those whom are looking after the guidelines and if so how does it work to get proper justice among the community.
Thanks for your upmost concerns regarding this matter.

These newly-adopted rules codify a few of the philosophical differences I share with the foldit community (especially the protracted fights over the use of potty-mouth language, and also the use of insults), but most are reasonable (no outing/slurs/harassment). So I may end up flouncing sometime.
Just a minor suggestion; add gender identity to the classes of protected groups, and if you mean sexual orientation instead of an unspecified "orientation", say that.
It's hard to explain but, if i was responsible for making sure the right atmosphere here is maintained with some class and functional reason then i can say, yeah, it's working, but should the chat become something of a stand over haven for moderations whom so far have noone identified to negotiate the purpose or connectoin to that person they can then manipulate within the game, from opposing teams and even as a mix, leaders with all teams, some kind of neutral base should be considered, as i dont believe kids make up the magority of players within the community, so if science can be used from the stats online, the best players and from which age/gender etc be known then we can target that area so we collect a good crowd whom can fold and have the time to fold, unlike most children. Yet they have adapted over time seeing how we deal with things before these new laws are being imposed upon our free demoracy by a minority of players whom hang around looking for something to do. I mean, it's hard to explain, but i think anyone whom wants to moderate this Community of citizen scientists who9m work differently to some of their thoughts about the game and science. The way we got where we are today is from experimenting with all the possible paths to get to fold proteins pretty good, but others are making leaps and bounds, so where is our creativity going ? some of them communicate differently and its us who should be tolerant of them as they hold the key to our locks ( puzzles. ) i feel this should be said. take responsibility for your actions as a moderator. too many kicks for too many feeble things which may be able to slide and those people have a way to apologise to maintain face. ?? just thoughts.
