I know that there are many users used to using the current navigation options in Foldit but the way to rotate, turn, zoom and pan do not seem "natural" to a new user. I believe that it could be quite helpful to have an option to change the navigation.

Zoom should be a simple scroll up or scroll down (with an option to invert)
Pan should be a (mouse wheel (3rd button) - click and hold) to bring up the panning hand
Rotate should be a combination of a Button + Cursor Movement (like Ctrl + Move Cursor towards Bottom Left)

(These options (and their variations) can be seen using Google Earth, AutoCAD, Solidworks, Google Sketchup)

Thanks for Listening!

In my opinion, outside of some very expensive 3D CAD tools, foldit navigation tools are great, precise, fluid and responsive using a two button mouse and the shift key.

Rotate = Button + Cursor - no thanks - just click the white space and spin using the mouse movement.

Not sure about your mouse, but the wheel on mine and many of the standard ones are really clunky. I have two buttons and one wheel. To pan I right click and drag, simple and very precise.

Google earth navigation has always annoyed me - it is imho nowhere near as good or intuitive as foldit and it is clunky, probably because it is a web app.
