Since the chat server crashed yesterday, it appears that newer team members are unable to get into their group chats either ingame or via IRC.
We know that the devs are working to fix this - but in the meantime, here is a workaround for those people:
Close your foldit client. Log into foldit website, then go to this link http://fold.it/portal/user/me/edit/IRC
Check the box, then reopen foldit game.
If you have an IRC only nick, repeat this after logging into foldit website for that nick.

we are working to fix this, thanks for your patience
Restored users from 02-02-2011 to IRC server from database, so all users
should be able to login to IRC server. Let me know if you know someone
not be able to login to IRC server.
I am working on restoring groups/channels now.

kxu has fixed your group - you should be in your group when you reopen your foldit game

Followed the instruction. Mibbit - when I try to join #global it responds with "128.95.1.227 (dead)"
Try to goto first tab which has 128.95.1.227 on the tab. Then identify yourself there by typing:
/msg NickServ IDENTIFY password
if success, then type:
/join #global
This should bring up another tab with message indicate you have joined #global. Hope this help.
Note:
I am not quite familiar with Mibbit. i just create an account for myself to test it.

Many of the issues are not yet resolved. The hard coding of the ops room is not, for instance. And although the method using the link above works for some players, for some it does not. gdnskye was able to access group ingame with the link fix above, but his irc account will not work (and yes, he is familiar with irc and has used it for over a month).
We are all patient, and know that you are doing your best to help - and thank you.

I think you still have a connection to IRC server(128.95.1.227):

Can you disconnect from IRC server first, then try connect to IRC server(128.95.1.227)
from Mibbit, see if that works ?

Can you disconnect this connection also and try to reconnect IRC server from Mibbit.com ?

Hum, sorry i understand that it is difficult to help the people like me....who don't know a lot about computer,.... and if it was the only thing.....
It is the name you are going to join, for example: /join #channelname .
If miss wanr is trying to get into chat from the game client, she probably won't know the obscure name of the channel, or even what a channel is!
miss wanr - how are you connecting - through the game, or through a separate IRC client?

In my case after I click "fix" buton blank page appears.
But when I use this link again proper messages ("all fixed") shows up.
