Frozen representation is too opaque. It obscures detail making frozen item difficult to visualise and to work with. As it is now the blue colour extends beyond the normally displayed boundary of the item. Maybe if the frozen colour were to be confined a pixel width or more inside the boundary?

I have the same problem with the big fat blue worms in the selection interface, the frozen bits I'm usually not working with directly so the ydon't bother me.
I particularly dislike the whole protein turning fat and blue if I am running a script
