The linux client hangs with various actions. Banding seems to be one of them.
I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit with kernel 2.6.35-24-generic.
downloaded Linux beta today (03/23/2011).
started it, it updated itself and then failed.
Error message:
[jerry@unix Foldit]$ ./Foldit
Foldit Error: Could not load library: cmp-binary-25d10676276d784c5b0db1bd92c8f77b/game_library.so: undefined symbol: _ZN18FTUnicodeStringItrIhE9utf8bytesE.
Is there a minimum level of gcc required? I'm currently running gcc 4.3.2 where the problem occurred.
32 bit kernel (2.6.31.5)
Mandriva 2009.0 distribution
I am using Kubuntu 8.04, kernel 2.6.24-29-generic #1 SMP Wed Mar 16 19:46:26 UTC 2011 i686 GNU/Linux
I have downloaded Foldit today, version-binary f0086b39c52edf55020917399bd120fe
After start and the update, the restart fails with the following message:
If this problem persists, please install the latest version.
Foldit Error: Could not load library: cmp-binary-9f3ed4b5c87641d6587198ebc1e40757/game_library.so: undefined symbol: _ZN18FTUnicodeStringItrIhE9utf8bytesE.
Any Hints?
I also run Fold It on Ubuntu, but the fact is that it's been like this for a very long time.
I opened a bug on the sound not playing properly that's over a year old now. There are numerous other crash reports from others on the Linux client, and the devs also confirmed that there won't be a 64-bit client for Linux.
Sad as it is, the majority of the world runs Windows or Mac, so it's understandable that that's where they want to focus first. If I were you, I wouldn't expect any of this to be cleared up anytime soon.
