I noticed that the "best" recipes are the ones with the highest average stars, regardless of how many people rated the recipe. I see this as an issue with the usefulness of the online cookbook.

If I post my own recipe on the site, and then rate it 5 stars, its going to be higher rated than the better four and three star recipes, irregardless if it truly is better. Folders, should not have to sift through so much garbage to find the gems of algorithms.

In addition, it seems to me that the creme de la creme of the recipes should be included in the updates.

It is with this, that I think a way to enhance the current cookbook and recipes would be to take into account the number of players and the number of stars assigned to the recipe, and if it receives enough stars then it will be included with the game release.

Sample rules:
1) Recipe must have an Average rating of 3 or more stars
2) There need to be at least 10% of players of who's global rank is higher than 6031 (Because there are a lot 0 points.)
or
if the average number of stars from folders is greater than the first two rules multiplied together, then it also is accepted.

So, for you math savvy people:
(NumPlayers w/ rank >6031)*10%*3 Stars = Necessary for recipe to be accepted for game release.
Coincidentally, if less players award the recipe five stars and it gets the necessary star limit, it should also be included.

I am strongly against any automated recipe downloading.

Also the there is a problem with rating, the way described here is not useful. You will most likely never get the 10% of players rate on anything.

My proposal is:
No shown rating before at least 3 people have rated it ("not enough ratings") and no uploader should be able to rate himself. Depending on the average number of rates, that could increase.

About the people without global points: I don't think it is useful to except them from any voting. They may found other recipes worthful then veterans, but that also means that other newbies will find them useful, too.
And there is no way against fake votings. It would take only one or two days (ánd of course a finished puzzle) to have 10 acounts with global points. Thats enough to rate any recipe in the tops.
