http://fold.it/portal/node/319493 The now-closed "New Best" forum post referenced above states in the last update by Admin that the "New Best" is now in the BETA.

I just logged into BETA and no new update downloaded, indicating that BETA is the same release as the live FoldIt package.

There was also a Feedback or Forum post (that I can't find now) stating that new BETA releases would be announced. I hope "announced" doesn't mean hidden away in closed forum topics.

If I understand correctly, the new best is in beta for the developers. It is not announced because it is not in the beta for the players. Two betas basically, the developers one you almost never hear about because it is not supposed to concern us until it is in our beta. The only reason it needed to be mentioned was to end the discussion. Don't worry, when the new best is ready it will be in an update and announced on the front page just like any other major or medium sized update.

That's correct. The relevant feedback entry, which has been intentionally left open, will be marked resolved when this feature goes into the main branch.

I hope you both mean that the player beta will be announced, with descriptions of all the changes and additions, with plenty of advance noticed to be tested before it's released to the general player population.

I hope any future updates won't be released from "beta" to "main" setting in options.txt until beta-testing players using ALL the supported operating systems have had ample chance to test it, avoiding the problems plaguing the last few updates.
