I couldn't type @ for the email as I tried to create an account through the foldit.exe

I've experienced the same problems running under MacOSX 10.6.2 on a Spanish Macbook Pro. Version 8fa6cf092696363999f5acac9c11ab02.
BTW, for version reporting the about screen could have a "copy version hash to clipboard" button.

If you can't type alt-gr-q, hold regular Alt down and then press 064 on the Numpad (with NumLock off),
or paste an @ by copying and then press Ctrl-v to insert it.
This works.

Seems to be a problem of the German layout, I had the same problem. I also tried the American location (shift 2, if I'm not mistaken), but it didn't work.
