After this last update 20210414-398dcf7e82-win_x86

all recipes crash. Cut & wiggle will run for awhile

on Auto wiggle power. On high wiggle power about 30 seconds.

For years I've had very few crashes. The last build

20210312-02b96e625d-win_x86 crashed all recipes on symmetry

puzzles. Now structure prediction and symmetry puzzles are

mostly hand fold only.

The fact that some Windows 10 machines aren't affected

has got me wondering what's the difference. Is it a

peripheral issue?

I found a work around to the crashing problem.

Setting the graph length to 25 and memory usage to

20% worked. I'm not sure how an update would affect

graph properties for certain puzzles. Especially after

the default worked for years. But I'm not clear how the

memory setting changes anything.

Yes, that seems to make things much more stable.
Played around with it a bit and all recipes except DRemixW seem to run stable now (sat this to 25/0%). At least they do for me at the moment on 1989 and that puzzle is quite a challenge in terms of stability.
DRemixW still crashes but less often than before. I had the settings 50/100% before and that was for sure problematic and much more unstable.
So it might be worthwile for the developers to look into what these settings influence and where the root-cause is for these crashes. I still think that this problem is memory-related because these settings affect - as I understand it - the amount of data/solutions stored for undo(-graph).
Thanks a lot dcrwheeler for sharing this! I will try to test and investigate further. Maybe there is a solution for these crashes in short-term-reach after all?!

I raised graph length to 100 but kept memory usage to 20% and that caused the immediate crash
of any recipe.
