Client crashes when trying to open any puzzle, initial UI works fine, I can copy the version from the settings menu. This happens on one particular pc after automatically upgrading from a main client to this main client.

I cannot seem to attach the log file as a .txt , so copied below.

Video controller Device requires further installation (think I'm getting warm)

Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2E12&SUBSYS_10038086&REV_03\3&11583659&0&10 requires further installation.

That's an "Event" from January 15, 2020, probably when we went to Win 10 from Win7 Pro.

Will attempt to perform this request and see if this fixes problem.

Speculation: something similar needs doing to fix Bletchley's bug (this one) too.

No Video Card It's Onboard Video

Just in case anyone hasn't realized yet I'm clueless in this area, my 10 year old computer doesn't actually **have** a graphics card, I bought it with just the onboard graphics because I didn't think I'd be a heavy gamer (finished ordering the computer the day after I joined Foldit, ironically enough).

Additional searching shows "Intel Corporation driver update for Intel(R) Q45/Q43 Express Chipset (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.1)" as a "Windows 10 and later upgrade & servicing drivers", in this list from the Microsoft Update Catalog (vintage mid-2017) here:

Applying that download (now have to learn how to do that) **may** (fingers crossed) perform that "further installation" of the driver for the onboard video from my last comment. If successful then my Foldit crashes will likely cease.

Maybe this time I've got the problem right :-)

Applied the downloaded driver, which failed to resolve the issue. Old computer appears to be unusable on Foldit.

Great! Glad that fixed the issue.

As a follow up to this for people who were having this issue:

We've changed the behavior of this crash to instead record the underlying OpenGL error to the logfile. We would really like to fix this underlying OpenGL error, so it would be extremely helpful if you can respond here with any logfiles that contain OpenGL errors.

We're unable to reproduce these errors on our own computers, so we're relying on your help to fix this!
