Sometimes when I drag a rama dot, the game crashes.
Shared with scientists "1242 Clone crash". Open rama map and selection interface. Click 77 GLY to select it. Grab its rama dot and drag into the green area. This should create an ideal loop. Game crashes.
I previously dragged the rama dot for 76 ASN into the green area (which did not create an ideal loop) and that did not crash the game.
If I start with 76 and 77 in the blue area, first drag 77 GLY into green area and then 76 ASN, the first drag does not crash and the second drag crashes.
From the same save, change 76 to GLY. Drag 77 into the red (no crash) then drag 76 into the yellow in lower right quadrant to create an ideal loop (crash).
Or switch the order - drag 76 GLY to the yellow (no crash) then drag 77 to the red to form the ideal loop (crash).
We've found the bug that was causing the crash and have a fix for it. Hopefully we will be able to release a hotfix to the devprev group in the next day or so.
I also see an error in this puzzle that prevented players from loading solutions from Puzzle 1242. When the hotfix goes out, I'll repost a corrected devprev puzzle so solutions can be shared.
If I have lots of spaghetti random coil, it only dings my score for one bad loop. The minute I break up the random coil with some 2ndary structure, I have more bad loops and more penalty.
I see why that behavior is counterintuitive, but I think it's appropriate for this filter. As far as this Ideal Loop Filter is concerned, one short unideal loop should be just as bad as one long unideal loop. We hope that players will be able to craft designs with all loops satisfying this filter.
The scenario you describe actually seems to be handled pretty well by the main score function—that is, spaghetti random coil tends to score poorly in Foldit even without filters. We've seen that Foldit players are actually very good about using lots of secondary structure. If this were not the case, I think the existing Secondary Structure Filter would be a better way to discourage spaghetti random coil.
My 1242 saves (I have several) are not showing in the list of saves in the devprev puzzle. The list of saves is empty.
