Software Update - 2 New Puzzles
Dear Protein Puzzlers,
Another Monday brings new puzzles and software updates. Congratulations to our winners on puzzle 16 (Rosettamod, labraticmp3, mummiebrain, xavier, and zzaltz) and puzzle 17 (xavier, Rosettamod, hugothehermit, derwek, and Massakaparal). We have some new challenges for you in puzzles 18 and 19. Also, we have posted a software update that fixes several bugs (especially the save bug) and add more information about the current score and current tool.
Good luck on the new puzzles!(Tue, 01/29/2008 - 06:25 | 0 comments)
Stability Fixes - Experimental New Tools
Hey Protein Puzzlers,
We've just posted an update with a bunch of great stuff. We include a suite of experimental folding tools (in the "test tab) and we'd love to hear your feedback on them. Please post your comments in the Tools Feedback. Also, the new release includes a bunch of stability fixes which should reduce crashes. If you downloaded the game on Windows and it completely didn't work, please try uninstalling and reinstalling with the latest installer.

Two New Puzzles
Puzzles 16 and 17 are being released today, replacing 14 and 15. Congratulations to top folders labraticmp3, hugothehermit, Rosettamod, zzaltz, and spvincent on Puzzle 14, and top folders Rosettamod, labraticmp3, ferzle, hugothehermit, and zzaltz on Puzzle 15!
As always, keep up the good work, and good luck!
Two New Prickly Protein Puzzles
Hey protein folders!
Congratulations to our top players on Puzzle 12 (ferzle, mummiebrain, labraticmp3, sean.kiely, spvincent) and Puzzle 13 (ferzle, labraticmp3, spvincent, Rusty, hugothehermit). It was particularly exciting to see players on Puzzle 12 get so close to the native (true) structure from an essentially unfolded state. We've put up two new semi-unfolded protien puzzles for you. May the best folder win!
We've also posted a software update that should address some stability issues. What kind of new tools would you guys like to fold up the proteins? Send us suggestions in the message boards.
Exciting New Updates
We have exciting news today: the new version of Fold it! introduces a new backbone tool that should radically change the game play. With the new tool, many more protein configurations are possible, including undiscovered optimal configurations. Until now, when playing the game it was easy to make large initial improvements and quickly end up with proteins that are very hard to improve. As a result the best scores converged to very similar solutions.
To see how the new backbone tool works, please watch the video we created.
With the backbone tool this is no longer the case because you can explore larger-scale changes to the proteins, and thus find drastically different proteins. We can also start the puzzles in a more unfolded state, so try Puzzle 12! The new tool should automatically install the next time you play.
We look forward to your solutions!
