Can't start playing real puzzles

I'm new one here and i've got problems with downloading\starting new puzzles(in "science puzzles"). when i'm trying to begin any puzzle, i'm getting such message:
"A Time out was reached due to excessive server load. sorry for the inconvenience, please try again later."
It is lasting for second day, and I think that is not server overload problem.. As I can see, only few players are playing wright now. What am I doing wrong?
P.S. I've got Dial-Up connection... may be i've got too slow connection?

Is there any more info you can give us? What type of machine are you on? Were you able to play all the intro levels without any problem?
Can you take a screenshot of the end of your log.txt file?
It should be located here:
* on Windows XP at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Foldit\
* on Windows Vista at C:\ProgramData\Foldit\
* on a Mac, Ctrl-click on the app and choose "Show Package Contents, then go to Contents/Resources
* on Linux, is is the Foldit directory

Of course i can give you all the info. I've got P-4 1500Mgz, 256 mb of ram, 64 Mb GeForce video card. Windows Xp Sp3. i've got all new drivers for video card and so on.
Yes, i can play my intro levels. but when i'm trying to connect for new puzzles i'm still getting "A Time out was reached due to excessive server load. sorry for the inconvenience, please try again later." message. Plus, I forced my friend to download\install foldit too. He's got the same problems!
I can take a screenshot.. where should i post it? i looked through the log, and it looks like foldit tries to download the puzzle, but then nothing happens..
Alex WasteS Demurin, do you have problems with other programs which use internet-connection, like download-/ or chat-programs, too?
Did you install the right internet-protocols, and do you use WLAN?
My question to the game-developers is again, if a special internet-port for the game should be forwarded to guarantee connection.
No, I haven't got any problems with other internet related programs. everything is working properly. hm' i've got an idea. tomorrow i'll try to turn of all chat-programs, mozilla and boink and then try to conect agan. May be one of this programs uses the same port as the FoldIt...
next, i'm not using wlan, and i've got all my internet-protocols correctly customized.
to Crashguard303: as i can see ( using netstat -b) Fold it is using several ports for connection.
So, people, any ideas what is going on? I do want to play my first puzzle, but i can't...

can you try posting your log.txt file (or a screenshot of the end of your log.txt file) after you get the error?
Did your friend use the same connection as you or was this at somewhere else?
You can post a screenshot by clicking the icon underneath the Comment Text Box (it's small and has a green + sign on it).
I'm so sorry that we aren't able to figure out what is going on!
Oh, sorry, i paid no heed that i can post my full txt Log file.. i'll attach it right now.
I don't know, what connection exactly he uses, but it is not dial-up connection. perhaps it is wi-fi or something like that. much better then mine)

Hey Alex,
can you post a screenshot of the error message that you get when you try playing "Beginner Puzzle 10: Ocean Pout" for example.
Based on your log.txt it seems you are able to connect to everything properly.

Special to beta_helix: are you a part of the developer crew? i want to contact with someone, and to talk about translation of the program and website.
I've been unable to play at all for about a week now. The site ALWAYS tells me there may be excessive server load a few times... but eventually I USED to be able to get through. Now, can't play at all. Can't get new puzzles. ...and I've consistently had trouble getting updates to download as well. The timeouts just seem to be very tight. I have satellite internet and high latency, 5 or 10 second timeout is just not doable.

I suggest that game updates are rather critical, and that failure to connect and to confirm whether updates are required warrants a pop-up box and an option to retry.
I've literally retried a dozen times and can't get through, various times of day.
My log file is attached.
Still have not been able to get on to try the latest puzzles. Attached is my speakeasy speed test result. I ran both Chicago (closest location to me) and Seattle, and Chicago's download rate was nearly 4x faster.

I've posted an update that increases the timeout a bit. Let me know if this helps with the problem.
I can't download the update, because i have to reconnect every 60 minuts.... i can download only 80-90% of the file and then breakaway on my internet provider's server.
oooh, what should i do now? how can I download that update? i don't want to download 20Mb install file again...
I would think if you can't even DL the update in 60 minutes, your connection is too slow!

of course i know that it is too slow. but now i can't do anything about that. neither i nor my friends. you know, it's not good,if fold is was made for people with 2Mb\sec internet connection!

TO Seth Cooper: heh, i can't send you a message! when i'm clicking Send Message or Add Buddy button on your personal page I get such message "The requested page could not be found." sometimes I think that I'm too unlucky))))

Do you have a router with QoS policies that you can set ? perhaps you can give foldit a higher priority on internet traffic?
